“The Night Ascention”

Who is with me now
that should wake from a tender sleep
to lay standing with the alive
to stand among me and their eyes keep
working past the hours they should stop
preventing them from their nightly drop
To rise from bed with one hulking leap
make step after step and strive
with eyes blurrly from a nightly weep
to stand with me in a nightly vow
What indents in beds that we did plow
to fall from their heights too steep
and take that terror nights dive
and plunged into valleys with depths deep
as the body falls to the ground and flop
to the heavens our soul will swap
ascending high but with a slow creep
for lifeless bodies cannot survive
what goes with the wind in a sweep
and what the heaven will and won’t allow.
