“Days Without Years”
Wide-eyed and forlorned,
words we use for distanced character.
Without true nature,
using generalities when
we desire the specific.
And three versions of a face,
time has changed,
being not present,
no first-hand account,
just pictures without dates,
days without a year to belong to.
Without introduction,
with knowledge unacknowledged,
passing by and knowing.
Chance occurrence
and movements of direction,
directing an ends
with no means of means.
Contrasted by color,
hair and skin and eyes,
a harmony of threads,
of similitude, of color.
In daylight reflected skin
hits distant eyes and registers,
and can’t move closer but do.
A moving memory
projected on eyelids
of walking away
and distance again,
observed people
who never look.
